I've just finished reading Longbourne, and have previously read 'Death Comes to Pemberley', and 'Pemberley'.

What other sequels to Pride & Prejudice can you recommend, and which should I avoid like the plague? There are so many ...

I liked The Other Bennet Sister by Janice Hadlow. It focuses on Mary.

And I also liked Charlotte by Helen Moffett.

The Other Bennet Sister is OK - the first half I found much stronger than the second, it really gives you an insight into the difficulties of an unmarried woman who no longer had a parental home to rely on.

There’s Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld which isn’t a sequel but a retelling of P&P set in modern Cincinnati. I liked it but it does have mixed reviews!

My DH long ago (as a ‘joke’ & before he knew better!) once bought me ‘Spank me, Mr Darcy’.

I don’t recommend it!

Pride and Prejudice and zombies isn’t a sequel, it’s a retelling of the story as though England has a zombie problem.....I enjoyed it!

Loved Longbourne. Rather liked Eligible too, but Curtis is definitely an acquired taste. But if you want something different try "Unmarriageable: Pride and Prejudice in Pakistan" by Soniah Kamal. Its P and P with better food and fashions Wink

If you’re a general JA fan, there’s a rather good Mansfield Park sequel by Joan Aiken, Mansfield Revisited, which rehabilitates the Crawfords and focuses mostly on Susan Price, having dispatched Fanny and Edmund overseas.

Gosh I didn’t know this was a thing.

Not a sequel to P&P, but I hugely enjoyed Miss Austen by Gill Hornby. It's a beautifully written, funny, moving, insightful novel with Cassandra Austen as the main character.

There’s one I read around 2007 called Mr Darcy Takes a Wife (and a sequel to that called Darcy and Elizabeth) by Linda Berdoll. I enjoyed them but they were quite racy which was offputting in a P&P sequel.

I too really enjoyed Longbourn.

The Other Bennet Sister is deal of the day on audible today. £2.99 do I thought it was worth a try.

I like the Fitzwilliam Darcy, gentleman series of three books by Pamela Aidan. It's a retelling of P&P from Darcy's point of view in beautiful detail, though the second book is a bit odd.

I liked both The Other Bennet Sister and Charlotte, wasn't so taken with Longbourne.
But, I think my favourite P&P spinoff has to be this retelling via Social media. (The Lizzie Bennet Diaries youtube series is also fun)
