I've just been reading John Updike's Terrorist, and I'm only ten pages in, but I've already come across this delightful image:

"A week-old infant, his prick just a little fat button on the seamed pincushion of his balls"

Charming. Quite charming. Any more?

I remember an anne tyler book where she describes little chilrens hands as looking like small biscuits. I always liked that image.
