Dh really enjoyed all the Flashman books, Terry Pratchett. The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton, English Passengers by Matthew Kneale and I am Pilgrim by Hayes. He's looking for a new read so I thought I'd ask for some recommendations.

Other question is recommendations for your typical chick lit type read, friend of mine loves Marian Keyes, Cathy Bramley, Milly Johnson, Jenny Colgan type books I'd love to send her something from a different author that she might like.

Thank you, I've added them to the list. Dh really enjoyed the tv programme of Dr Strange so he's going to read the book.

Patricia Scanlon's trilogy of City Girls, City Lives, City Women. Anything by Patrick Scanlon she would probably enjoy. Also Maureen Lee is a great writer.
