Anyone noticed that all "pacey thrillers" now have the same plot?

I usually have one "serious" book and one thriller on the go. Beginning to realise that so many British thrillers are exactly the same. Just read Ruth Ware's One by One, and realised it is identical to another much praised thriller ( feel like I should not say which one or it would be a spoiler). Down to the identity of the murderer, their character traits and so on. Must stop reading these, but often my lockdown brain is not equal to anything else...

Yes I have found that. I keep thinking I've already read the book as very similar plot to another one. Even the setting was similar in the one you mentioned

Try ‘The Last Thing to Burn’ - we’re reading it for my book club. Different type of thriller.

I find it with "best friend/neighbour turns out to be nutter" plotlines.
I do one literary and then one easy read Nx I really must stop falling for the "most terrifying book you'll ever read" slant. They rarely are.
