This was serialised on "Book of the week" on radio 4 last week.It is quite short, therefore easy to dip into at the end of a tiring days with children.

Maybe it is because dd has recently been diagnosed with developmental delay but this book really touched my heart, and put my problems into perpective. This is a reaaly beautiful story about a mothers love for her child. After a normal pregnancy the author gives birth to a happy healthy baby, only for him to drop his blood sugar to dangerous levels and start fitting.Following this he is diagnosed with severe CP and told that his chances of developing speech, sight, mobility are limited. His mum is determined that this is not going to be the case.I have sobbed my way through this beautiful book and would reccomend it to everyone out there as a really positive and uplifting story.Warning, you may need plenty of tissues.

I am half way through it - what a fantastic story . . . a real tearjerker, but incredibly uplifting and beautifully written.

I would recommend that everyone read this book, whether your children are NT or have SN. DD2 has SN, and perhaps because of this I sobbed all the way through too.

But you don't have to have a personal interest, it is simply an engrossing and beautifully written account of a mother's love for her son.
