I read a lot but I struggle to put a good book down which can be a problem when I have loads of work to do. I can put non fiction books down and I still get the relaxation reading gives me.

Autobiographies are out as I don't put them down as they're too like stories. Just want to read informative well written books and open to almost any topic apart from sport. Any suggestions?

Perhaps try
The Library Book by Susan Orleans Everything you ever wanted to know about public libraries, with the focus on USA.
The Life Project by Helen Pearson - British birth cohort studies
British Nannies and the Great War Louise Heren Early years of Norland Nanny organisation and the experiences of nannies in the 1914-18 war.

I really enjoyed this recently. Might not appeal if you don’t know/like London at all but shines a light on some of the forgotten stories and women in our history.

A Farmer's Diary by Sally Irwin.
A year in the life of a farmer in the NE. Lovely humorous easy read.

I really enjoy Bill Bryson’s non-travel books, for example: A Short History of Nearly Everything and Home.

The Five - Haille Rubenhold

It's about the lives of the five women murdered by Jack the Ripper. There's no blood or gore and it doesn't 'glorify' their murderer (in fact he hardly gets a mention) It is a fascinating insight in to the the hard lives that women had at that time.
