Ring of Bright Water - should I continue?

I'm listening to this on Audible at the moment. I chose it because it's a classic and features Scotland, nature and wildlife, all of which I love. I'm about an hour in (still on the first chapter) but am finding the frequent accounts of animal death quite distressing; I avoid stuff like this on tv because I just can't enjoy such stories as part of entertainment. I know it's part of nature (well not so much the accounts of hunting) but I would really rather avoid this subject. Can anyone tell me if it carries on in this vein please? Thanks

Well it’s a long time since I read it but my recollection is that there is indeed quite a bit of animal death in it.

It's a book and film that made me cry a lot.

Dont carry on reading. I saw the film and the ending has stuck with me.

What Bathroom says. I saw the film as a teenager and the ending really upset me. Don't put yourself through it.

Oh goodness I'm glad I stopped reading and asked here then! I'll return it to Audible and exchange it for something less distressing. Thanks everyone Smile

Why do they do this?? I loved Turner and Hooch but why did the dog have to die? Dont get me started on Marley and Me either.

No don’t carry on. I still remember seeing it when I was young and not sure I ever got over the ending

GameofPhones · 20/10/2020 02:08

The ending of the film made me cry. It has stayed long in my memory.

Sp1ke3 · 21/10/2020 20:08

It is heartbreaking

You'll need tissues if you do carry on.
