Strike books

I just watched the latest Strike series and from threads on here, everyone said the books are better.

So I've just got the first 4 in a bundle from the Book Bundle (basically the Book People) for £28 which is the same price as Amazon but I'm trying to avoid them.

Just thought I'd let people know if they were also thinking of reading them Smile

Not read Strike, but thank you for mentioning Book Bundle. Used to love The Book People.

I'm reading the first Strike at the moment. I like it. I plan to work my way through them.

I've read all 5, you're in for a treat, I LOVE the books - and they make the TV shows more enjoyable to watch, they become the icing on the cake rather than anything of any importance.

The books are great! I didn't realise there was a TV show but would recommend the books to anyone. JK's attention to detail and observations about charactersand relationships are brilliant Smile

Just started book five today and LOVING it! It's like being with old friends, hanging out with Strike and Robin. I think it's my favourite ever series. JKR is a genius.

Ginfordinner · 26/09/2020 11:46

They get better with each book. I have just finished reading the third one and couldn't put it down.

UnaOfStormhold · 26/09/2020 12:01

My only complaint about them is that they should be called the Ellacott books... I like Strike but I find Robin so much more interesting and engaging as a character. And the way Rowlings portrays moving through the world as a woman, particularly in the 5th book, is so real and poignant.

I loved The Cuckoos calling but they are all good reads. The new one is very long and detailed but I love the characters and really enjoyed it.

Buggabooboo · 05/11/2020 19:36

The newest one is the best so far! I loved it!

the80sweregreat · 05/11/2020 19:39

I liked Troubled blood but Cuckoo is the best. They are all fab though.

AdaColeman · 05/11/2020 20:01

How gory and bloody is A Career of Evil? A friend advised not reading it as it was too lurid for her. What do you think? I've enjoyed reading the first two books.

shouldisay · 05/11/2020 20:03

I've listened to them all on audiobook!! Bloody brilliant. Robert Glenister narrates them and he is fab, although he makes some little mistakes in the last one...doesn't detract though.

the80sweregreat · 05/11/2020 20:03

Career of evil is a bit more gruesome but it's a good read.
A lot about Strikes past comes up.

Natsku · 05/11/2020 20:27

I just finished The Cuckoo's Calling, ordered it and when it arrived I realised I've actually read it before. But good, going to get more.

Oblomov20 · 05/11/2020 20:34

I love Holliday Grainger as Robin Ellacott.

DoYouRememberTheInnMiranda · 05/11/2020 22:40

I've loved all these books in the last few weeks. What shall I read next?

Justnormajean · 10/11/2020 11:46

I had to stop reading it, it was too much for me, and was affecting my sleep, so watched it on TV instead which dialled it back significantly. I'm going to read the latest one though, and really liked the TV adaptations. I think they complement the books well, and Strike and Robyn 'look right' imho.
Magicbabywaves · 18/11/2020 06:48

If you liked these, then the Jackson Brodie series might be a good call. I’ve just finished all five Strike books and I’m a bit bereft now. I had trouble with Career of Evil and had to skip a chunk. I might go back and read it fully now.
