Anyone read Iris Gower?

My mum got me 'The Oyster Catchers' which was actually signed by Iris Gower, unfortunately with my numerous house moves I may have lost it without reading it. This was over 20 years ago. My mum has since died so in memory of my mother's gift I bought an Iris Gower book - I was determined to read one. So..this week I've started reading 'The Rowan Tree'. I've read the first 100 pages I'm loving it so far - Iris' development of the various characters involved is very good. I noticed that her writings span many years with the first book coming out in 1975!

Yes, years ago - I think she wrote a few different series, usually set in Wales??

Sorry about your Mum, that sounds like a lovely thing to remember her by.

Hi FiveShelties - this particular one is set on the Gower/Swansea area - interesting when she talks about the different social customs of the nineteenth century.

Thank you - yes mum died in 1998 and I think she gave me this book around 1995/6. I always told myself I'd get round to reading a book by Iris Gower and no time like the present!!
