Katsma · 19/09/2007 22:22

Curious incident. You'll be unable to put it down, and will read it very quickly

moondog · 19/09/2007 22:23

Human Croquet (although Behind the scenes at the museum her best book)
Jane Eyre
Tales from a small island

CatIsSleepy · 19/09/2007 22:23

Curious Incident , or Jane Eyre

3Ddonut · 19/09/2007 22:23

the alchemist. I couldn't put it down, i've read one or two others off your list, the beach (a bit dull) it's the best one of Paulo Coehlo's and I've read a few now...

controlfreaky2 · 19/09/2007 22:23

depends what you're after.....
light read
classic
quirky
romantic......

those are all good books (save i havent read the alchemist / a life's work / the last one.....)

moondog · 19/09/2007 22:24

The Beach is shoite

CatIsSleepy · 19/09/2007 22:24

didn't like the alchemist either, piffle
though can't actually remember much about it at all (maybe a good thing)

MegaLegs · 19/09/2007 22:24

I loved Human Croquet. I have her Emotionally Weird on my bedside pile.

CatIsSleepy · 19/09/2007 22:25

the beach is shoite, but fairly entertaining shoite

TotalChaos · 19/09/2007 22:25

Jane Eyre - for a bit of the classics, but in quite a gripping gothic way, so not that much of a chore.
Or Tales from a Small Island for genial and amusing.

Alchemist and A Life's Work are a bit "cod" profound.

Piffle · 19/09/2007 22:27

kate atkinson is superb, not read human croquet yet...

Throw out the Alchemist and Chocolat and enjoy the rest in any order.
