So apparently Stephenie Meyer is going to release Twilight from Edward's perspective this August.

Will anyone be reading? I'll admit I was a big fan around 12 years ago but grew out of the books quickly after the awful ending in Breaking Dawn.

I would imagine most of the original fandom have also grown out of the books, it's not like Harry Potter which is a bit more timeless IYSWIM?

And yes, the writing itself is not the best but that's not why the books were so popular.

I am SO excited about this.

Have you read the partial draft of it on her website? It's so much better than the main books, as Edward is a more interesting character. It's very clear how creepy and unhealthy his attraction is.

I was actually a little old for it the first time round but work in children's publishing so 'growing out of it' has never been a consideration.

Agree that Breaking Dawn was awful. Overlong and so anti-climactic. New Moon was also a bit of a snore-fest other than the end. But Twilight and Eclipse are guilty pleasures.

I read the draft years ago. I'm guessing this is a clever way to reignite the Twilight mania among teenagers today

I hated the breaking dawn ending too! Glad it wasn’t just me. I was kind of hoping that it would lead to a further book in the future? I remember reading the last book waiting for this massive fight to break out and being confused that there wasn’t many pages left haha.

I’ve read the partial draft, and am looking forward to the release! I do think the twilight hype has died out, I was a teen when it was massive but will definitely be reading this once it’s released Grin

Nope! I enjoyed them at the time but looking back at all that sexual frustration they were just awful. I definitely don’t want to read from the perspective of a hundred year old salivating over a school girl.

@Palegreenstars yes as I've got older the thought has made me a bit uncomfortable. I know it's fictional and about vampires, I'm not taking it too literally, but if it was a book about let's say, a 65 year old human obsessed with a 17 year old I doubt it would be the teen sensation it was Grin it was just okay in twilight because physically he was young and good looking without the body that comes with his age. There are quite a lot of problems with the whole saga tbh

Anyone reading? I can't get into itConfused

It was actually Jacob "imprinting" on the baby girl that made me really uncomfortable. Didn't like it at all.
