Just finished this, enjoyed it but keen to discuss with someone !

Yes! I really enjoyed it, very different from what I expected and I was hooked. Sad in parts though, people forced into a kind of spiritual prostitution of sorts. There was a bleakness and a beauty to it. Have you read anything similar in genre/tone to recommend?

I thought it was a great idea that started well before deteriorating. It got too much about SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER their relationship when there was more to explore with the premise.

I agree with you @Binglebong - loved the idea, but the second part kind of went all star-crossed lovers.
@inthekitchensink Agree about the prostitution angle...lots to think about.

SPOILER...I was left wondering what happened to the sister and the poor “plain but with money” girl left at the altar! And if Luciano nice childhood book got burned and the memories returned

My feelings were the opposite! I thought the first part was fairly standard fantasy- strange woman with mysterious powers, secret room, etc, and then the second half was a more interesting and unusual love story. Overall I really enjoyed it.
