It's really fab and I've done loads of swaps already.

I can't remember who recommended it and I think the conversation must have been in chat because I can't find it now, but thank you whoever you are.

I have recently joined (after the recommendation) and wondering if its worth it so its good to hear another recommendation.

I have agreed to 2 swaps even though they didn't really have anything i wanted but felt mean saying no. I have requested 1 book and been turned down...

Probably give it a bit longer though to see how it pans out.

I joined too, and have completed 8 swaps already! Dh thought we were gettingh rid pof loads of books, only to find more appearing!

How many books do you have wheelybug?

I have agreed 10 swaps so far and I'm getting much better at turning down swaps when they don't have anything I want. I'm sure they don't take it personally, I certainly don't when someone does it to me.

I do have quite a few books on my book list (30-something atm I think), but still about three quarters of my requests get turned down.

One thing that I have found is that a lot of users browse the most recently added books, so if you have just added some and get a request to swap it's worth waiting 24 hours before deciding either way as other people with a more interesting book list may also request the same book.

About 25 books. I'll just have to keep on it I think and see how it goes.

I thought it was worth accepting a few at the beginning in order to boost my rating.
Good tip about the waiting for more requests.. will remember that one !

And another tip, if you have some books that you think should be popular but nobody's asking for them, then try making them inactive and then making them active again as I think this puts them on the new list again. (I deactivated one book for a few days to re-read it and then re-activated it and I got 2 offers to swap within hours.)

oh very good tip Bran. Thanks.

I've just requested a few more to give it another go so will see what happens.

littlerach · 15/09/2007 19:45

I will try thta inactive thing too.

I had a really good giggle at someone who requested one of my books. She only had one book on her list which I really didn't want to read, ever. So I turned her down, and a week later she requested the same book again. I'm not sure whether she had forgotten that she had requested it before, or whether she thought I might have changed my mind about wanting her book (I hadn't). The book (hers not mine) was Rik Mayall's autobiography.
