In need of some good books to download on my kindle. I've just finished the other wife which I really enjoyed and I started reading the family upstairs but couldn't get into it. I don't know why but I much prefer reading books in first person. Other recent books I've read and really enjoyed:
Gone without a trace
Behind closed doors
Through the wall
After I've gone
The silent sister
The other woman
One little mistake

I don't know why but I've really struggled this year to find any books that are as good as some mentioned above. Got so much spare time at the moment so if you have any good domestic thriller reconnections please let me know

Louise Candlish and Liane Moriaty are worth a look. Moriaty’s earlier ones were more chick lit but like Lisa Jewell the more recent ones are deeper and darker.

Here To Stay
The Magpies
What you wish for

All by Mark Edwards, really enjoyed all of them

I'm currently reading The Wife Between Us. I found it on DD's bookshelf and am absolutely gripped. It has so many twists and turns that I can't wait for the ending. I think it's been out a couple of years and was a Richard and Judy book.

Linwood Barclay’s No Time for Goodbye is excellent. I’d recommend most of his books.

CromfordGreyhound · 14/04/2020 10:01

Have you tried any Michelle Frances titles? She's written three so far and the first two would certainly fit your criteria. The third is a good read but not as thrilling.

The Girlfriend
The Temp
The Daughter

I second Louise Candlish. I've also enjoyed Shari Lapena.

Following!

Remembered another one;

Between You and Me by Lisa Hall.

Published in 2016 so a bit before the recent surge in domestic thrillers but all the better for it.

choc27 · 16/04/2020 10:24

I am also reading The Other Wife. I recently read Follow me home by Mark Edwards and have read The Magpies too. Would recommend both.

HollowTalk · 16/04/2020 11:10

I loved Remember Me by Amy McLellan - the paperback is out today but the kindle version has been out since November.

It's a fantastic story about a crime being committed but the witness has face-blindness. Such a great premise for a plot.

There's the added advantage that Amy is a Mumsnetter Grin

The Mark Edwards ones listed are very good, but some of his others are awful, so watch out!

Lucy Clarke is quite good, once you get past her obsession with the sea and the word "salt" which at first does your head in she uses it so often!

I'm reading one by Rachael Abbott at the moment, first one I've read of hers, Right Behind You, enjoying it so far, unlike many of the ok-but-immediately-forgotten "best friend/ex/neighbour turns out to be a knife wielding homicidal maniac" it's quite well written.

Cara Hunter is good, really enjoy hers. Not necessarily domestics, more general crime as written from the police pov but worth a read.

Just looking through my kindle, I've also read domestic psycho thrillers by Louise Csndlish, Fiona Barton, Shalini Boland, Lesley Kara, Alex Marwood, Rachael Sargeant, Teresa Driscoll.

All in the last 6 months and haven't the foggiest what any of them were about which gives an indication of how (not that) good they were!

Rayn · 16/04/2020 22:19

Lucy Clarke
CL Taylor
Claire Mcintosh
Claire McGowan
Adele Parks

Thanks Hollow I've just bought that for my next read.
Currently reading another Mark Edwards Here to Stay. Hope it's not one of his rubbish ones!
Loving most of the authors mentioned as well.

HollowTalk · 17/04/2020 23:25

Oh great! Let me know what you think of it.

DrinkSangriaInThePark · 17/04/2020 23:29

The Silent Patient was New York Times bestseller and is excellent, I've just finished it and couldn't put it down.

RedMoonRising · 17/04/2020 23:32

The Couple on Cedar Close
Jane Harper's most recent book, I can't remember the name - the Last Man?

FiveShelties · 17/04/2020 23:41

I have just finished Here to Stay by Mark Edwards and enjoyed it. Will definitely read more of his and hopefully avoid the bad ones.

choc27 · 18/04/2020 10:05

I will do Hollow.
Five, glad you enjoyed it, hopefully I will!

Mummyonline · 18/04/2020 15:51

I'm enjoying The Rumour by Lesley Kara

applesnotoranges · 18/04/2020 16:04

Just read The Snow Killer snd The Soul Killer by Ross Greenwood. I don't normally read thrillers but I was given these by a Facebook group to review. I enjoyed the first one and really enjoyed the second one. If you like the Jackson Brody novels I think you'll like them.

Hope this is useful
