My mum is hunting for two books, one from her childhood and one from mine. Can you help?
Mum was born in 1950 and is 70 now. The book she remembers from her childhood is about two mice who collect bits and bobs. They get overwhelmed with all the stuff and get rid of it only to pick up some string, just in case.
I was born in 1978 and read this in the 1980's. It was Grimms or Hans Anderson fairy tales. It was a large hardback book. Dust jacket lost and underneath it was yellow with a black cat on. Possibly puss in boots. Inside the illustrations had a smudgy quality, maybe watercolour.
