She is absolutely one of my favourite authors - I have read just about everything she has ever written. Some of her books are among my all time favourites and I have read them many times (Future Home Makers of America, At Sea, Dress Circle, Mr Starlight)

When I saw she had a new book out - Dr Dan's Casebook - I put it on my Christmas list. I read it in about two days. What a treat! Delighted to find that another book is planned in the same series.

However, I was astonished to discover that she had self published the latest book through Amazon because no publisher would take it. I mean, I know this happens to writers with no track records trying to make their own break. But Laurie Graham? She is an established author of more than 30 years with about 20 books to her name. Not only that she is bloody good! I cannot for the life of me think why publishers wouldn't snap up anything she produced!

Anyway, if you haven't tried it yet I can definitely recommend Dr. Dan. Or anything else by her come to that.

I like Laurie Graham too, OP. It's a bit of a facer that she had to self-publish, I agree. That's a real shame for her. Must keep an eye out for the book.

Gone with the Windsor’s.

The importance of being Kennedy.

I love her. Her latest book was almost good. But I didn’t like her uninformed position about vaccines so probably won’t read the sequel.

Must keep an eye out for the book.

I think it is only available on Amazon as a result of publishing through them.

A Humble Companion was a great read.

Love Laurie Graham, thank you for the heads up on her new book.

I've liked her books a lot. Usually a satisfying read. But Dr Dan isn't up to her usual standard. The use of council tenants' stereotypes as not-very-comic relief put me right off.

The sequel to Dr. Dan is now available through Amazon. It is called "Dr. Dan Marred Man". Haven't finished it yet but finding it just as readable as the first one.

Adored some of Laurie graham's books, agreed, how on earth is she having to self-publish?
