Does anyone else subscribe to these channels?

I've recently found it and now spend about 2 hours a week watching people talk about books when I could be reading!

No I haven’t heard about it and I probably shouldn’t go there.
I already feel as though I spend more time reading about what to read than actually reading!

Portulaca · 09/01/2020 08:36

Yes. Been watching Booktube for a couple of years now.

Favourites are -
LaurenAndTheBooks
LaurenWade
Jen Campbell
Jean's BookishThoughts
Mercys BookishMusings
Simon Savidge
TomReadsThings
AllDBooks

There's loads of booktubers and I've watched a lot! Narrowed them down to this list of ones whose content pretty much matches my taste in books.

paulinespeaksmanylanguages · 09/01/2020 11:12

Yes, I watch several of those too as well as Lil's Vintage World and My True Shelf.

Sometimes, I get ideas about books that I wouldn't otherwise have known about and that's great but 8-10 hours a month watching is too much. I could read another 4 books or so if I stopped!

Probably a good idea not to start, @MissPoldark

I love it. That and the 50 books threads on mumsnet is where I get the majority of my book chat and recommendations. I enjoy portalinthepages to (although she tends to read more weightier stuff then me)

paulinespeaksmanylanguages · 09/01/2020 22:54

Yes, I like her too but I balance out her intellectual choices with Jayne Catherine on books as she reads more accessible books, looks like a gran and speaks about them in a really down to earth, chatty way.

I find some of the books threads on Mumsnet hard to follow though, as they're so long! If you join on the last few pages, you've no idea about what's been spoken about earlier.

Yes love booktube. I enjoy all the ones mentioned above plus booksandlala, tired mama tries to read, abookolive and paperbackdreams.

One more I forgot to mention is GettingHyggeWithIt. April is lovely and her taste in books often coincides with mine, although she does also love horror (which I'm not keen on). She's talked quite a bit about her struggles with infertility, and miscarriages. She had a baby girl last year, and she posts stuff about her too. Lovely channel.

I started watching book tube just over a year ago and now spent too much time watching other people talk about what they are reading/have read/are going to read instead of reading myself.
The list of people I subscribe to keeps growing, I recognise most of those listed above. My favourites are Becca and the Books, Books and Things, and Spinster's Library.

RozHuntleysStump · 24/01/2020 13:29

I like Lucythereader. She talks a lot about classic books.

ElenadeClermont · 05/02/2020 18:50

DS(nearly 12) loves booktube. Big fan if Jessie the Reader and his friends.

Any new booktubers out there? Would love some more UK ones to follow?
