How about Flesh in the Age of Reason by Roy Porter, Penguin 2004? I have used it with my A Level students and I feel that it sums up pretty well the contention of rationality and physical being...it is very comprehensive and quotes loads of other sources you could investigate!

Or Roy Porter, Enlightenment this one, not the shorter one of the same name.

VengefulSquirrel · 21/08/2007 12:29

Looks like Roy Porter has the market cornered in Enlightenment discourse! lol

Kathyis6incheshigh · 21/08/2007 12:30

LOL Vengeful Squirrel - he sure has!
Dead now though, so his Enlightenment-book-producing-factory has had to shut down.

I used to have one, for the OU course I never did in 1984, but I sent it to Oxfam and I can't remember what it was called or who it was by...will ransack my brian...

VengefulSquirrel · 21/08/2007 14:31
