I've had a really intense year so I can't really handle anything too heavy right now. What are some enjoyable light books I can read that don't take a lot of effort? Any suggestions? Thanks

I'm currently enjoying The Rosie Project. Very light going so far. No idea if it gets heavier, but it looks like a promising light read! (I hope...coz that's what I was looking for when I picked it up...)

I have just finished the latest Shopaholic book by Sophie Kinsella. Really enjoyed it. I find this series funny even though the main character is so annoying. There is something about her that you can't help to like. I have also been reading a couple of Christmas themed Sarah Morgan books (from the Made in Manhatten series I think they're call). Totally obvious how it's going to end but nice easy reads.

I always recommend this, but Harpo Speaks is a lovely, laugh out loud, warm hearted book. Also name checked by Nile Rogers in his Desert Island Discs.

The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett. The funniest book I have ever read.

The Rosie Project, as suggested by a PP, is also good.

Keeper of Lost Things - bought it by accident but loved it - a real easy read with a lovely idea.

Boom! By Mark Haddon.
Got this from the library for DS, then had 'a little look' and found I couldn't put it down! Yes, it's aimed at preteens/ teenagers, but it's funny, light-hearted and fast-paced. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

I really enjoyed Old Baggage by Lissa Evans recently.

This article gives a list, most of which I've read and all of which were easy. They call it "up lit".
