Good autumnal reads

Can anyone recommend a good book set at this time of year please? I love autumn, but more the spooky, atmospheric side rather than the cosy hot chocolate/hygge way (though open to both).

I've just finished Agatha Christie's Halloween Party, which was fun as well as being a bit creepy and autumnal, and now feeling like something else along those lines (book or Audible).

Realise this might be quite a specific request but thought I'd give it a go! Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

On closer inspection (I did do a search before posting, honestly) I see this has sort of already been done in the cosy books thread. Lots of good suggestions there, although I'm still keen for recommendations for slightly more creepy, atmospheric stuff if anyone has anything!

Michelle Paver has done a couple of ghost stories which lots of people on here have liked, but which I was a bit disappointed by tbh. They are perhaps more winter themed than Autumn though.

Great, thanks Remus - have just looked it up. Sounds like the kind of thing I'm after. Wakenhyrst looks like it's the newest one, have you read that one? It sounds quite good.

Wakenhyrst is trying to do more than the other two, but I thought didn't quite pull it off. Dark Matter probably the best out of the three.
