Hi

Feel able to get back into reading a bit again now that dd2 is approaching 1st birthday.

Any recommendations? Fancy a bit of a challenge but nothing too brain-bending, IYKWIM!

I need to exercise my mind

If you like a bit of fluffy chicklit read my mum's book!
If you like shockingly hilarious filth, read my mate's OH's book! (topical as it has Elvis impersonators in it)
Plug plug plug, both in Waterstones etc...

the kite runner - utterly fabulous!!

HenriettaHippo · 17/08/2007 19:17

try John Connolly - the Book of Lost Things.

babymutha · 08/09/2007 22:11

I recommend random acts of Heroic Love too - just make sure you're not too far from a hanky - it's pretty intense!

The Rise and Fall of a Yummy Mummy by Polly Williams
This Book will save your Life by A.N.Homes
The Pact and my Sisters keeper both by jodi Picoult

Just read all on holiday.
First one is great chick lit.
Also The silk harmony factory if you fancy something a bit heavier.

If you're ever stuck deciding what to read Richard & Judy book club selections are usually good.

Hi again,
I forgot the best book that I've read in the last few months. That is The Island by Victoria Hislop. A really great read - I didn't want it to finish

beck3 · 11/09/2007 13:04

The Magus by John Fowles
To kill a mockingbird by Harper Lee
Carter beats the devil by Glen David Gold
The secret history by Donna Tarte
The blind assassin by Margaret Atwood
ummmm.....
...just read the house at Riverton which was quite good, bit of a page turner.

McDreamy · 11/09/2007 13:06

The Kite Runner
Shadow of the Wind
Rebecca
The Memory Keeper's Daughter
Dr Zhivago

McDreamy · 11/09/2007 13:07

The Woods Harlen Coben, in fact anything by Harlen Coben if you want a page turner and a damn good story.
