I'm hoping the expertise of this group can help me.
In a couple of weeks I am sort of retiring from a small company and the 11 people there are all marvellous and I want to say goodbye to each person with a letter and book
They're all younger than me and there's something of a joke in the old school methods but I also feel it's a personal way to pass on my appreciation and in some cases guidance. I'm the 'boss' of all but one of them.
Some of them I have ideas for but a couple are tricky
- a new grad trainee who doesn't have much faith in herself but is really great and just needs to have confidence
- a manager who gets it wrong sometimes but his heart is in the right place
- a career changer who wants to run before she can walk etc
I'm looking for fiction books mainly I think. No cheesy self help stuff. Just good stories that can help people think about themselves, the human condition and how they fit in.
As I'm writing this I wonder if it's a stupid idea but I'd love to leave each one with a personal card and relevant book. Just need some inspiration on the right books. Be yourself and it all works out is probably the general message!
