Can anyone recommend me some books for my soon to be 7yo DSD please?

She's enjoying the Amelia Fang series at the moment with her Mum Smile I bought her The Faraway Tree for Christmas but it hasn't really been touched.

Any suggestions?

David Walliams has some great books - my 9yo DS has loved all the ones he's read. Also the 13th storey treehouse books were a hit around that age. Roald Dahl? My 5yo has really enjoyed the twits, George's marvellous medicine and esio trot. Currently reading Charlie and the chocolate factory to him which he is enjoying also.

Isadora Moon- about a little girl who is half fairy/half vampire.

Does she like animal stories? Mine quite like Zoe's Rescue Zoo, about a girl who can talk to animals.

Hotel Flamingo series is about a hotel for animals run by animals (and the odd human)- there are two so far.

DD1 (just finished Yr3 and turned 8) did the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at school this year and adored it. Also starting to get into Harry Potter, we are starting book 2. DD2 is 6.5 and not interested yet.

Are you reading with her, or is it fur reading alone? Just you say ‘with’ Mum but Faraway Tree ‘barely touched’. I think reading with them is so key for enjoyment at this stage.

Seconding wholeheartedly PP’s recs - Isadora Moon and Hotel Flamingo are perfect.

Also try Ottiline series by Chris Riddell.

52 story treehouse series (something like that, the numbers change). It's about an author and illustrator writing a story within the story. DS (7) adores them.

@NoSquirrels for us to read together Smile she's my DSD. Has other books that we've read but just not keen on the Faraway Tree!

Thanks all for suggestions, some of these are going on my Christmas list of ideas!
