I found an old thread on it but there wasn't a big discussion about it. I've just finished it and feeling a bit bewildered

I did too, a couple of years back and soldiered on this time. I think I liked it!

I've not read it for ages, but loved it when I did.
Recently read " The Penelopiad", really can recommend that one. Its being made into a play apparently, on in Stratford.
