I've just accidentally read a modern equivalent to Jilly Cooper

My usual reading tastes are The Chronicles of St Mary's, Rivers of London etc. plus a lot of science fiction and a bit of fantasy.

I started reading the first novel in Pippa Croft's Oxford Blues series for a laugh and found it surprisingly difficult to put down.

The narrator is an American post-graduate student in Oxford who ends up in a relationship with a member of the British upper class. It rapidly ended up in Jilly Cooper territory, complete with riding crops, grooms and a hunt. Also a LOT of shagging. The sex scenes are a bit repetitive; they vary the location a lot more than their technique. However, the main character is actually quite likeable, and it's not badly written.

I'm still reading and am now halfway through the third book. Blush

I love Fiona Walker's novels. She makes me want to get a horse and a dashing neighbour in jodphurs

I have a habit of dozing whilst watching tv and could not understand why what I was watching had changed to blokes in riding gear! Yep it was Jilly Coopers Riders!!!! Cannot remember what I watched before but it was not a load of Ruperts that is for sure!
