MarsLady · 20/07/2007 16:34

Have to say, although I like Harry Potter, and have read them all, I've always waited till they're out in paperback. AM reading a book on hormones atm, - v interesting, but a bit confusing.

midnightexpress · 20/07/2007 16:38

Phew, glad it's not just me!

Am currently juggling 'Cloud Atlas', 'Then we came to the end' and 'The Atom Station', but have two v small nippers, so not getting very far with any of them tbh. But sooooooo fed up of HP.

midnight - I've got "Black Swan Green" on my pile first as everyone says it "feels" like a more accomplished first novel... not ventured into "Cloud Atlas" yet...

EffiePerine · 20/07/2007 16:39

John Le Mesurier's autobiography (v good btw)

got fed up with Harry Potter quite a few books back - too looooooooooong and dull for me

JemimaPip · 20/07/2007 16:40

As it happens, I am reading 'Big Babies, or Why Can't We Just Grow Up' by Michael Byfield . I recommend it! I will read the new HP, though probably after the rest of the family.

I'm reading "Paula Spencer" by Roddy Doyle at the minute. It's about a recovering alcoholic.

TheMaskedPoster · 20/07/2007 16:47

I am reading The Time Travellers Wife

not a Potter fan in the least
(may wish to be one day - just not at this present time)

InTheseShoes · 20/07/2007 16:54

I am reading A Spot Of Bother by Mark Haddon (Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime author) - I am enjoying it but making slow progress as before bed is my preferred reading time and a 7 week old DS in with us kind of precludes bedtime reading!

Am quite ambivelent about HP although have read the others. Probably will read this one eventually

southeastastra · 20/07/2007 17:00

reading the john thaw thing does that count

midnightexpress · 20/07/2007 17:02

Everything counts SEA, so long as it isn't by JKR.

Not getting on very well with Black Swan Green, I must admit. It is more tell than show, iyswim.

Funny you should mention Byfield on this thread, JP, it sounds interesting.

Tatties · 20/07/2007 21:36

I have just started The Night Watch

compo · 20/07/2007 21:38

I'm reading Sheila O'Flanagan's latest but will read HP at some point

christie1 · 21/07/2007 21:07

Can say have never read harry potter nor have the kids. I am not against it but the kids are just not interested even though they are big readers and the right age. It always seems to me that adults are the ones reading them. I just finished may contain nuts and am reading the Motherland right now. But to redeem my chick lit frenzy, I am also working throught dickens our mutual friend.
