eeesh. I bought this half price in Borders (I think it's only in hardback at the mo but as it was half price I thought I would go for it).

Started reading it last night. Couldn't stop. Made myself stop after about an hour then couldn't sleep for thinking about it.

The beginning is so sad. Honestly gut-wrenching.

Anyone else read it yet? I loved the Kiterunner and think I will love this too.

I know it is BEYOND SAD to bump yourself but really - I am losing sleep. This book is honestly so hard to read because the things that happen are so dreadful. It traces the history of Afghanistan through the lives of two women (OK that makes it sound really dull) but I've just got to the bit where the Taliban take over and it made me so, so unbelievably angry I just couldn't sleep.

We should have gone to war over that .

This is a great read ,very thought provoking. Make sure you have a box of tissues to hand.

I'd like to read it. I loved The Kite Runner.

I'm waiting for the paperback, sounds very compelling and like it lives up to The Kite Runner, which means it must be very good.

I have just finished this and loved it. I possibly loved it even more than the Kite Runner which I also really enjoyed. It is very sad and very atmospheric. Normally I don't like books written about women by men but this is def an exception. I have spent some time in that part of the world and it too me right back there.

DH is now half way through and he can't tear himself away.
