Hope you find this ladies!

The only way they could have done it so that the actors were the 'right' age would have been to wait until all the books were out, then make the films in consecutive years. I think they would have been worried about missing the hype - thinking that, once the last book was out, people would start to lose interest.

I have no problem with them being slightly older - like you say, Atilla, Buffy, Grease, Beverly Hills 902183475, and many more had teenagers played by much older actors.

Nymphadora · 18/08/2007 09:26

The lad taht play Draco (can't remember his name) is in his 20s I think?

MrsWeasley · 18/08/2007 09:37

yeah he is 20. His name is Tom Felton. He is listed as being in the 6th film but not yet listed for the 7th. I hope he is able to do it. Wouldnt be the same with a different Draco.

persephonesnape · 18/08/2007 10:06

i do wonder if Dracos hair is dyed? you can tell that the twins aren't natural firey red-heads, but Dracos hair looks very natural.

ginny seems to be going brown of hair?

I can't believe I am actually discussing this. am inherently sad. ;)

whompingwillowinthedewmeadow · 18/08/2007 10:10

olivia newton john was a bout 37 when she played a 18 yr old!!

rosmerta · 18/08/2007 15:02

I think Tom Felton is the worst actor in the films to be honest, he just seems really stiff and unnatural! Luna was great though, I did have reservations about her when I saw the pictures.

MrsWeasley · 18/08/2007 17:46

persephonesnape: Tom's hair is light brown it is dyed for hp! He has a good singing voice apparently. picture of tom in Anna and the king

MrsWeasley · 18/08/2007 17:51

fred and george NOT red

janeitebus · 18/08/2007 17:51

Awww he looks so cute! I actually think he's pretty good in the films - the stiffness suits the pompous nature of his character I think. I agree that Emma Watson overacts but I still quite like her. Daniel Radcliffe was good in TOOTP, much, much better than in the other films and I liked Michael Gambon in this one too - he suits the fierce Dumbledore so much better than the seemingly fluffy Dumbledore of the earlier books.

PhoenixSongbird · 18/08/2007 20:19

ooh, janeitebus, that's pretty much what I said - great minds and all that!!

Nymphadora · 22/08/2007 22:33

Just been to watch OOTP again and have decide that the thing that bugs me the most is the clothes, none of the teenagers are in robes and the majority are wearing strange clothes even those whowere from muggle families (and knew better IYSWIM)

PhoenixSongbird · 24/08/2007 09:13

I know, I thought that. In the scene where Trelawney gets the sack and Dumbledore 'rescues' her, half the kids were in robes and the other half not! I guess not all of them were in lessons, but it was a bit weird. Mind you, the films are using uniforms that are never in the books. In the books, they just have robes, whereas the films (part. the first two) make it look like a stuffy public school! It does work though, I must say.

My 'thrid' thread really is dying a slow and painful death now, isn't it?

BandofMothers · 25/08/2007 08:45

We can start it back up if you like Phoenix, I miss this thread

MrsWeasley · 27/08/2007 23:06

I keep checking it every now and again.

rosmerta · 28/08/2007 09:36

I have it on my watch list so I can see if anyone's posted! I do think we should at least try and fill this one

Nymphadora · 28/08/2007 20:16

I am watching too

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 28/08/2007 20:38

If one of you will babysit for me, I can go and watch TOOTP and then I'll be happy to talk about it on here for hours and hours...

I think Richard Griffiths could have been a splendid Slughorn - if he weren't already Uncle Vernon. What about Simon Russell Beale, plumped up and pompous? Richard Briers in serious mode might be good. Why hasn't he been in it as somebody yet?

And I still think Peter O'Toole would have been a better replacement for Richard Harris.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 28/08/2007 20:43

Or Brian Blessed as Slughorn?

Who else needs casting for the last 2 films?

Perhaps Peter O'Toole should play Aberforth? Not sure whether he'd work with goats though

persephonesnape · 28/08/2007 21:37

the thing that bugs me about OOtp is the music in tech griffindor common room. can't remember the band, but it's muggle indie instead of the wyrd sisters.

MrsWeasley · 28/08/2007 23:53

now in the J Ross interview with JK Rowling there was another english actor who she said could have a part.
Apparently he met her and she said she would write a part for him but forgot and when asked she said he would fit one of the newer people.
now let me ask Dh what his name was
Little man, london, ah yes it was Bob Hoskins

Nymphadora · 29/08/2007 08:40

Aberforth is in the OOTP film when they meet in the pub, strange old bloke with a goat

persephonesnape · 29/08/2007 08:49

bob hoskins as grindewald? actually he'd maker a good goblin!

BandofMothers · 29/08/2007 08:53

Peter O'Toole would be a good Aberforth.
DH was saying the other day he would have been good as the replacement DD. Or John Hurt if he wasn't Ollivander.

Oh I have missed these threads
Persephone how are your paintings coming on???

persephonesnape · 29/08/2007 09:02

I've had a wee rest this week after doing a virgin mary covered with tattoos on a skateboard deck. but i was looking for an excuse to get back on with some potter-y.
