Kensuke's Kingdom and Adolpus Tips...couldn't read either of those out loud at the end for the snot and the sobbing.

Butterfly Lion I didn't find quite as sad...

Though ds1 and I play at "guess the plot" for MM's books now after we've read the first chapter...

OK, I predict he's going to go to war. And all his family will be killed by bombs. But he won't know til he comes back after being captured and made a POW. And then he'll lose a leg. And get run over. And his cat will lose a leg. And get run over. And then he'll get shipwrecked and the cat will drown...
