Anyone else read this? I found the 1st section rivetting, but at about half way through it started to pall.

Is it about actual Putney - the place? That is very near me!

I'm reading it at the moment - just over two thirds of the way through. It hasn't palled for me yet. Given the subject matter, I'm not sure I would have read this if I hadn't liked her first novel and one of her non fiction books so much, though

Deathraystare, some of the story is set in Putney.

It is a book about a relationship between a female child and a male adult in the 1970s, and repercussions more than thirty years later, with at least three narrative points of view both in the past and the present, which is our own decade. We learn the thoughts and feelings of Daphne, Ralph and Daphne's schoolfriend Jane about what is happening or has happened .
