I’m looking some good fiction for my ski trip. Perfect for snuggling up in the chalet with after a day skiing. Smile Nothing too strenuous but nothing too mindless. Maybe along the lines of Chocolat but extra points for wintery or snowy or alpine-y vibe!

This is going to Hurt, Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor was a great read. Not so much like Chocolat but might be worth a go?
Have a great trip.

Haha @skilover ! Have you just jinxed me and wished a ski injury upon me?!

This was actually a recent suggestion at my book club so I might give it a go Smile

@PARunnerGirl Not at all!!! Please don't hurt yourself (I am currently sitting with miniscus tear in knee after a ski accident last weekend). Book is mainly about Obs & Gynae and is very funny and deeply moving. I found you can pick it up and put it down quite easily, perfect after a long day on the slopes. Enjoy you holiday and the book!

The Chalet School!

The Mountain by Luca D'Andrea and Winter Ghosts by Kate Mosse are both set in the Alps I think and good.

The Snow Child is lovely.

@Skilover .... I'm hoping to be too busy skiing, drinking and eating on my sk8 holiday next week, but nevertheless i downloaded Secrets of a Junior Doctor after seeing your recommendation and I just wanted to thank you. I'm only a couple of chapters in and it has had me rolling around laughing and then slack jawed in disbelief of what these Doctors are expected to do day in day out - a real eye opener. But he has a wonderful way of writing, and I'm loving it. Suspect it will be finished before I even get on the plane! Thank you for the suggestion (even though I'm not the OP) WineThanksCake

Oh and I forgot to say sorry about your injury and hope your making a good recovery

Skilover · 09/02/2019 21:59

@Thunderpunt you are so very welcome. I loved it, it is hilarious and thought provoking equal measure. Have a great trip. Conditions are fab out there. 😀😀

Maybe don't read Jo Nesbo's The Snowman. It's excellent, but if you're surrounded by snow, maybe not so much.

PARunnerGirl · 14/02/2019 05:32

Thank you @N0rdicStar, exactly what I was looking for! I have read the Snow Child but not the other two. Downloaded onto my kindle today. Smile
