Anyone read this. I picked it up at the weekend and couldn't put it down. It is about Eyam, a village in Derbyshire that isolated itself in 1666 to stop plague spreading round the area. Year of Wonders

Yes, my book group did it last month. One of the members had coincidently been to the village and brought postcards showing the cottages, the boundary stone, the gravestone. I would like to visit.

Have got this to read as Eyam is near my dad's house and is an absolutely fascinating place to visit. Definitely worth a trip. There's a grave yard where an entire family are buried, up a hill, and the story goes that the mother had to carry each body up there as they died. It's very sad.

Agree - this is a fantastic book!! I read it and then went to visit Eyam and it's amazing, the actual cottages are still there and there's an excellent museum. very moving

yes I read this just recently. I thought it was excellent - very well researched and also completely captivating.

Eyam is a beautiful and deeply moving place. Its story helps you feel a real connection with people who lived 330 plus years ago.
Hadn't heard about this book, sounds well worth a read.

you MUST read it Marina - it is your duty and your pleasure, trust me....! seriously it is beautifully written and offers so much insight into 17th century life. I really liked it.
