With Whsmith's buy one get one half price there are so many good books to choose from..

Have bought "The Sea House" by Esther Freud, and although I haven't really got into it, can say it has gripped me with it's descriptive words so when have time will read a lot more,

also "Music and Silence" by Rose Tremain, which my mum and sister read said was brilliant..

anyone got any other books to recommend...(and does anyone go to writers groups and find them fun and worthwile?),

happy reading

just having a think what i have read recently. Have you already read hideous kinky by Esther Freud? that was really good. Just read the Blue Flower by Penelope Fitzgerald, that was really good a bit miserable at the end. I also really like Peyton Place by Grace Metalious the book has a lot more bit than the film and was really quite groundbreaking for its time, and the Group by Mary Mccarthy. Never been to writers groups.

also do you know about the 99p book offer with the times at WHS. They have a new one every week, some really good stuff.

I'm in the middle of Starter for Ten and thoroughly enjoying it.

Should just say, it's light and funny. Written by the guy that co-wrote the last series of Cold Feet.

just enjoyed A Special Relationship by somebody Fitzgerald, quite light but I found it gripping, don't want to say too much about the plot but it's about a couple who get pregnant unexpectedly. DS had to amuse himself for quite a bit while I read it
