Has anyone else read this?

I liked the way the narrator's experience is used to describe the initial setting, but the ending felt incomplete.

I heard John Lanchester speaking about this book on Radio 4 last week, and now I really want to read it! Would you recommend it TheFirst

I loved Capital by him and this book sounds interesting. I think I’ll give it a go.

Lanchester is a brilliant writer, with the skill to write in different styles. I particularly like “Mr Phillips”. I met him at the Guardian building to discuss this book a few years ago. I’ll be buying “The Wall” this weekend. If you don’t like reading fiction try his book on the financial crisis-“Whoops!-why everybody owes everybody and no-one can pay”.

I love John Lanchester. I've read all his novels so far; didn't know he had a new one out, now I'm really excited. I really loved A Debt to Pleasure (so dark and funny) and Fragrant Harbour is one of those books that pops up in my mind every now and again. I might just read it again. I'm going to look for that R4 interview now, and the book. Everything I've read by him (haven't read the financial stuff) is so different, it's hard to believe it's the same writer, except that they're all really well crafted.
