I've just been given a belated Christmas pressie from my brother - a very gratefully received Waterstones voucher. Can anyone recommend books worth a read please Grin

What books have you enjoyed- to give an idea of genre 😊

Fiction - historical, thrillers, I really like Rosanna Ley, Rachel Hore but also enjoy a good thriller, have read lots of the Wesley Peterson books by Kate Ellis and Barbara Erskine.

If you like historical novels, have you tried Sharon Penman or Philippa Gregory?
You could try the "Chronicles of St. Mary's" series, they are hilarious and (sort of) historical. They're by Jodi Taylor.

I have read some Sharon Penman years ago, and I think some Philippa Gregory at some point. I'll have a look at some of those though, must be new ones out by now

Deanna Raybourn writes a couple of good historical mystery series which I really enjoy. Her most recent, about a free-spirited, female naturalist, are such fun.

Liane Moriarty is my new fave fiction writer - her books are unputdownable with characters that will stay with you long after the book’s finished.

Truly Madly Guilty
Big Little Lies
What Alice Forgot ... brilliant!

A friend got me a interesting book for Christmas. It’s called the angel whisperer. It’s all about what your loved ones are trying to tell you from beyond the grave. It’s worth reading if you are into spirituality and spiritual experiences etc. I personally award the book 8/10.
Thanks for the recommendations. My birthday is coming up. I need to make a list of books I want.

Educated by Tara Westover. It’s autobiographical but such an incredible story it could be fiction - amazing book, my favourite of 2018, I read it virtually in one sitting it was so compelling.
