Which are the other good Georgette Heyers?

I love some Georgette Heyer regency fun, but the last few I’ve started I’ve given up on as they just weren’t very good. Have I read all the ones worth reading? Should I just reread the good ones or are there some I’ve missed? I know they’re not all regency set so it’s not essential.

From memory these are the ones I’ve read, though am probably forgetting some:

Cotillion
Bath Tangle
Arabella
Venetia
Lady of Quality
Friday’s Child
The Convenient Marriage
Frederica
These old shades
Faro’s Daughter
The Corinthian (abandoned this one)
Sprig Muslin (or maybe this is the one I abandoned - the plot summary seems very similar to above)
Cousin Kate (abandoned)

Are the abandoned ones worth persevering with or am I missing any really good ones?

Devils Cub is good. It follows on from These Old Shades

I like The Masqueraders. And the short stories in Pistols for Two. Also, some of her whodunits are good.

A Civil Contract is rather different from her other stories but, IMO, is very good, though I think it's a book you'd either love or loathe.

Sylvester rings a bell but I’m not sure if I read it, off to Google.

Will look for Devils Cub.

I read one of her whodunnits - Penhallow I think? And maybe a Christmassy one, or maybe that was the Christmas one. I’ll try some others.

I like The Corinthian! I second Devil’s Cub and A Civil Contract though - they’re very different but both good.

The reluctant widow. I think that's what it's called...Cottilion ... Regency buckI like them all pretty much.

The Talisman Ring, The Reluctant Widow, The Masqueraders, really most of the others.

The ones you've abandoned are ones I didn't enjoy very much either. But I've loved all the rest.

Mind you, I couldn't get into Simon the Coldheart or My Lord John, or Beauvallet. I don't like the eras.

Regency Buck is good!

Definitely Regency Buck and Sylvester (the latter is probably my favourite GH). Also liked Faro’s Daughter. Completely agree that they are variable and that the ones you abandoned are less good...

I've always liked The Quiet Gentleman - it has my favorite Heyer hero and heroine.

I like the Tollgate and civil contract.

There's one with Ajax in the title - hold on a mo'- The Unknown Ajax. I found that rather funny!

I say that as someone who avoided Her novels for decades as mum read them. Slippery slope to Mills and Boon land I feared!

However, when mum died I inherited her Ipod which had a number of her talking books on them and there were two Georgette Heyers on it.

I love the language!

By the way, do not tell my brother that I have indulged as he mocked mum for her romance novels (he once chased her around the garden reading aloud from a particularly trite Mills and Boon!!!
