Hi All,

heard about a book series on the radio today but I've already forgotten the author name and title - think the title might have had the word Tomb in it? Google isn't helping me.

Its set in history - 1500's I think I heard. Its a murder mystery with a main character who appears in the other books of the same series. Written by a man and the books have good historical accuracy.

I will know it as soon as someone says it!

Tombland by Cj Sansom, part of the Shardlake series. I've read some of them and enjoyed them.

That’ll be the Shardlake series, by C J Sansom - the latest (and I think last) book was published recently and is called Tombland.

First book is called Dissolution - I think they’re pretty good (history/crime/character development). Enjoy!

Grief, I’m typing slowly today 😄

I'm reading #4 in the series at the moment, Revelation. I first read Dissolution years ago and thought it was excellent but was so hopeless at getting to #2 I had to reread it. It was great second time round too and I couldn't remember the plot. In the last year or so I have heard quite a lot of bits on the radio as they are being serialised on Radio 4, but I still don't remember or know whodunnit in this one. I don't forget books being interesting or the main characters, but I forget the plots completely very fast!

I love the Shardlake books! I think the first one is good, but is the weakest, they get better as they go along. The detail is great, and feels very accurate, and the main characters are very likeable. They get better from the second book because of new side characters that come in.

I’m in the middle of re-reading the whole series again. I must confess that ‘Tombland’ is my least favourite.
