Hope there aren't now about 10 of these cos we've all opened at the same time.

Betrayed tho, not defied.

BandofMuggles · 01/07/2007 10:49

And I think the defying was done before the birth. Don't think Malfoy betrayed him before his downfall.

BandofMuggles · 01/07/2007 10:49

Would be a good twist tho.

BandofMuggles · 01/07/2007 10:50

Still, the second half about him marking him doesn't apply to Malfoy, unless you mean the dark mark, but that doesn't mark him as equal, more as a servant/employee type mark.

True, but doesn't it say the child will be born to the parents, suggesting it happened before.
Sorry , don't mean to be pedantic - honest

TransfiguratingLily · 01/07/2007 10:52

hmmm, interesting and new slant worth pondering.....

BandofMuggles · 01/07/2007 10:53

DD said it was marked as in his scar.
Suppose he could be wrong tho.
I don't like all this suggestion that DD may have been wrong tho. Esp about Snape. Would be if he turns out to be wrong about everything.

Yeah we have same theory about snape and dd.

Not long now, only 3 weeks to go and we'll all know how it turns out.

Hope it's not an anti climax.

TransfiguratingLily · 01/07/2007 11:02

What if 'the one' turns out to be a group? Maybe there will be a few of them marked by V who's parents defied him? Maybe it won't be just Harry? that would be good, it does usually take a group effort at the end and there's alot about how important the friends are...

Oh dear MMJ, can't you abscond for an hour to the nearest bookshop
I think it will be a group effort anyway to get Harry the chance to to kill him. He wont be able to do it by himself. That's how someone will die to help him/save him.

TransfiguratingLily · 01/07/2007 11:21

yeah I think so too, though it would be interesting if the prophecy applies to a few of them. Can't imagine Harry not being the main champion though.

Mmj surely there will be some potter fans in the field full of hippies. There might be a few people with noses in books

rosmerta · 01/07/2007 13:24

I'm not going to a midnight launch either, am waiting for amazon to deliver it first thing Sat am!

Interesting theory, will ponder that whilst reading the last 3 books!

tigerschick · 01/07/2007 16:18

Hmmm very interesting theory about Malfoy. I think there are certainly going to be a few twists that we couldn't possibly predict. I really hope it isn't going to be an anti-climax and I can't imagine it will be.

I think that the deaths will have to be fairly main characters. At the end of HBP wasn't one of the Death Eaters killed and didn't even get named let alone mourned? I think quite a few people will die but 2 will be main characters. I'm also not sure that they will both be at the end of the book.

I'm not going to a midnight launch either. I'm waiting for Waterstones to deliver it in the morning. Not sure what I'll do if it doesn't come! Can I wait until Monday or will I go and buy one from Asda? hmm not a hard choice really

MrsWeasley · 01/07/2007 16:58

now wouldnt it be good if V had "chosen" the wrong one and its neville who kills him off!

tigerschick · 01/07/2007 17:16

I think it has to be someone that V "marked" in some way. Dd went on about how V had chosen H, so it has to be H - or maybe not ... interested by the theory of Malfoy, but still think H will be "the one"

persephonesnape · 01/07/2007 20:16

got my last one from asda. - was nice piling kids in car, popping off to supermarket, making a batch of bacon rolls and pancakes and setting back to read.

oh! hurry UP woman!

went to see shrek 3 with my boys yesterday and cinema was full of lifesize cutouts and posters ( sirius - rrrrr!)

12 yo dd refuses point blank to come to cinema with us if we dress up! I have my hat all picked out as well! boys have their wands at the ready!

dewmeadow · 01/07/2007 21:32

INteresting new theory about Malfoy - not sure what to think yet...I would really like Neville to be involved in the downfall of V, so that he grows in confidenceetc andn becomes a brilliant superhero type auror.

Agree that there will probably not just be death at the end of the book. Cant bear to think of any of them dying. Im still not over DD

Just finished Book 1 and remmebered tehbit someone mentioned about V telling Harry that he'd murdered his father but Lily didnt have to die. What did he mean by that? Do you think thats significant? Was Lily a bit of a slapper that everyone fancied including the Big Man himself?

MrsWeasley · 01/07/2007 22:08

"Was Lily a bit of a slapper "

How could you?

TransfiguratingLily · 01/07/2007 22:21

hmmm.....did V say that? Well we are going to learn more about Lily now apparently.

Now what'll I wear? What is a witchy pottery kind of outfit? I have a long black skirt with red lining and sequins....I have a green velvet fitted jacket with loads of buttons....I need a wand....
