Hope there aren't now about 10 of these cos we've all opened at the same time.

OP posts:

I have warned by DC's that I'm going to cry at that point!

MrsWeasley · 28/06/2007 12:43

my dc's not by

PhoenixSongbird · 28/06/2007 13:22

Ta-daaaaaaaa!! Does my bum look too big in this nickname?

Ah Faramir, Faramir, he is deeeeeeevine! Love the character and David Wenham (?) is scrumdiddlyumptious!

BOM, totally agree about that Eomer/Eowyn moment, it made me shiver just reading your post.

One thing that really bugs me about the films is bigging up Arwen's character, but she is a bit nothingy in the book I suppose, she's more important this way (while still following the general Tolkein line I think). One of the bits I love in the book is the Houses of Healing bit in ROTK (I think), with Eowyn and Faramir. I was gutted when I saw the film at the cinema as you didn't even see them getting together. There was a bit in the extended DVD though. Really important bit for 2 fave characters - how annoying?!? Generally ace though.

Sorry, total hijack! Back to HP

PhoenixSongbird · 28/06/2007 13:24

Oh and (sorry!) does anyone find Viggo Mortensen remotely sexy in anything else? He's all weak chinned with silly thin blonde hair! As Aragorn he is sooooo yum (one plot change I was glad of - much sexier than Tolkein's description!).

Sorry, sorry, I'll stop now.

lilibetpotter · 28/06/2007 13:28

You look gorgeous dahling!!

( oh yes, Arwen!! Poor Glorfindel - she pinched some of his best bits)

(and Aragorn is supposed to be ugly, as it says "all that is gold does not glitter", and the man is gorgeous!!)

I am unreasonably excited about this book coming out, get quite jittery at the thought of it.

PhoenixSongbird · 28/06/2007 13:36

Thankyou lili, I'm feeling pretty hot-to-trot!

I've just finshed re-reading CoS for the first time since reading book 6, and a couple of bits made me go 'ooh' and 'aha', but can I remember them? Can I buggery! When I move on to PoA I'll have to use post-its to mark important bits.

PhoenixSongbird · 28/06/2007 13:40

What I still can't quite believe is that after this, that'll be it! Story over, we'll know (nearly) as much as JKR. The worst bit is there'll be no more theorising! I'm looking forward to the 'and then' bit at the end to see what happens to everyone, but I hope she leaves us some wiggle-room to imagine what might happen.

persephonesnape · 28/06/2007 13:53

I cannot abide Lord of the rings.

sniff!

MrsWeasley · 28/06/2007 14:26

PhoenixSongbird: lovely name

I know its so hard to believe it will soon be all over!

I'm not sure how I will feel when it has ended Sad?, lost? relieved? angry(depending on outcome)? probably a mixture of all of these plus more!

I would love JKRowling to keep bringing out more HP books, maybe just little ones {{pleading smiley}}

funkimummy · 28/06/2007 14:35

What - the last book? I thought there would be on other afterwards. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

How could I not know? Where's the brandy?!??!

Oooow I hate it when good things come to an end. JK..if you're listening...please write another. ppllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease

PhoenixSongbird · 28/06/2007 15:59

It would be great if she did an issue of Ron?s fave comic ?The Adventures of Martin Miggs, the Mad Muggle? as another charity book for Comic Relief, or something.

skay · 28/06/2007 15:59

AHHH!

Portraits talk, but pictures don't.

So does that mean that DD's portrait in McGonagall's office may talk?

PhoenixSongbird · 28/06/2007 16:00

?Hogwarts: A History? would be good too. Might be a bit much for £1 though!

flatmouse · 28/06/2007 16:11

OK, i know this is in "Book" and not "Film" but you have discussed the film... I looked at the photos of the film, and Tonks just doesn't seem right to me, i imagined her more as the one out of 4 weddings (Scarlett).

flatmouse · 28/06/2007 16:12

Oh wow, i never realised she was "Marmalade" in "educating Marmalade" - i used to love that as a kid!

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 28/06/2007 16:25

She's dead though isn't she?
I can't imagine JKR ever writing another book. Won't she retire with her lovely family and her millions?

rosmerta · 28/06/2007 16:28

JK has talked about doing a book for adults, she's mentioned writing a crime type thing before.

& who's dead? [confused emoticon]

MrsWeasley · 28/06/2007 16:57

scarlett out of 4 weddings is dead

MrsWeasley · 28/06/2007 16:59

her name was Charlotte Coleman and she died from an Asthma Attack about 6 years ago i think

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 28/06/2007 17:08

Yes it was an asthma attack - very sad.
Be keen to see an adult book from her. I thought with a young family and money in the bank she'd want to take it easy but good for us if she wants to keep writing. Hermione would make a good detective.

lilibetpotter · 28/06/2007 17:10

Zoe Wannamker wasn't in any films after the first as it was ruomered (How do you spell that?) tha she asked for too much money to be in the next one.

Silly woman if it's true?

rosmerta · 28/06/2007 17:56

I remember hearing something about that, she was complaining they were all underpaid - article

I didn't know that about Charlotte Coleman, I really liked her in 4 weddings & in Oranges are not the only fruit

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 28/06/2007 17:58

Yes she was lovely and would have made a good Tonks.

MrsWeasley · 28/06/2007 19:16

just read that article and found it very about Richard Harris

What a Silly woman Zoe Wannamaker is, it wasnt as if her role was vital!

MrsWho · 28/06/2007 19:48

Will have to book tickets for th efilm I think!
