Hope there aren't now about 10 of these cos we've all opened at the same time.

OP posts:
MrsWeasley · 28/06/2007 20:15

already have mine

BandofMuggles · 29/06/2007 10:17

Have just finished OOTP

I can't believe she would have a sad ending for Harry after all the heartache he's had in his life already. Surely not.
Bless DD caring too much for Harry, I can't believe he died
Phoenixsongbird, lovely name. Very Pottery.
Going to read the article now.

BandofMuggles · 29/06/2007 10:22

OMG, Emma Watson looks so beautiful in that picture at the top. She really is gorgeous isn't she.
DH thinks she is, much to his embarrassment I think she will be so beautiful by the end, I like the fact that she wants Hermione to have babies with Ron.

PhoenixSongbird · 29/06/2007 10:39

Charlotte Coleman () would have much too old, Tonks is supposed to be 'young'. I don't know how long Auror training takes, but I'd guess she went to that straight after Hogwarts. I think she looks good, but not what I'd imagined. The actress was Ellie in 'About a Boy', the punky one Marcus gets a crush on. Quite a change!

Emma Watson is pretty but her hair hasn't been 'Hermione' since the first film. There's supposed to be this amazing transformation at the Yule Ball so noone recognises her at first, and though she did look lovely, it wasn't that different to normal! She's just not quite right.

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 29/06/2007 10:42

I quite like Emma Watson and when I read Hermy's words now I can hear her voice saying them.
Harry is just about to go to Dept of Mysteries

PhoenixSongbird · 29/06/2007 10:42

I remember reading that about Zoe Wannamaker at the time ? silly cow, she?s not that good! She was a perfect Hooch, but she was on screen for about 5 mins ffs. I wonder how much she was paid. I would have loved to have seen Rik Mayall (sp?) as Peeves. They must waste so much money on cut scenes, they should definitely make extended DVD versions ala LOTR.

BandofMuggles · 29/06/2007 10:44

Sorry to ruin as you're about to read this bit, but Harry broke the 2 way mirror when he found it again so how can it be important in the ast book???

Not really bushy enough, the hair, but I do think she is good at Hermione, bit overacted sometimes, but then I think Hermione is like that in the books.

PhoenixSongbird · 29/06/2007 10:45

Yeah, I like Emma Watson now, as I?ve got used to her. It?s only when I stop and think about it or if I?m re-reading the books that I think . Daniel Radcliffe looked rubbish (but so cuuuuute) in the first one as well, with his pudding bowl haircut. Easier for continuity I suppose, than hair all over the shop. I love Rupert Grint though, always have ? has anyone seen Driving Lessons? I missed it, but must see if I can rent it on DVD.

BandofMuggles · 29/06/2007 10:46

MacGonagall says there are about 3 or 4 more years of training after school to be an Auror.

rosmerta · 29/06/2007 10:46

I know & its not as if they'd have been making figures etc of her! If its true tho re the main actors, I feel a bit sorry for them!

BandofMuggles · 29/06/2007 10:47

Would be hard to get his hair to stick up all the time.

PhoenixSongbird · 29/06/2007 10:47

?but Harry broke the 2 way mirror when he found it?

I thought I remembered this happening, but wasn?t sure so I didn?t say anything.

Mmnnnn?. In-ter-esting? [rubs chin thoughtfully]

rosmerta · 29/06/2007 10:47

sorry that was meant about the ZW thing, you all posted too quickly

HP could always use 'reparo' to fix the mirror

PhoenixSongbird · 29/06/2007 10:49

Thanks BOM, I knew someone would know!

By the way, thanks everyone for liking my name. I tried to change it at Easter but everyone kept saying it was Eastery enough, so I changed it to SongbirdIsEasteryEnough. Bit of a cop-out but it got a few smiles!

BandofMuggles · 29/06/2007 10:51

Depends really, I know that Sean Astin who played Sam Gamgee in LOTR was only paid 250,000 dollars for all 3, cos it was contracted for all 3 films from the start. Which considering he was a huge character was nothing really. So it depends, if they contracted them all for all 7 films at the beginning, which would make sense for ther studio, then chances are most were not paid much esp the no namers

BandofMuggles · 29/06/2007 10:53

True he could repair it.
Luna also thinks the veil is not a permanent death, but seems to think that all the dead are behind it, and the room it's in is called the romm of the dead, or something similar. Just read it, but can't go and check as is in room with sleeping DD2.

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 29/06/2007 10:56

Re. the mirror - it just seems weird the Sirius gave him the mirror and then he never used it. It's almost pointless that she put it in the book unless there is a purpose later on.

BandofMuggles · 29/06/2007 10:58

True, I wonder too why Sirius didn't remind him about it the first time he spoke to Harry in the fire.

PhoenixSongbird · 29/06/2007 11:20

I know we?ve talked about it before, but I keep thinking about Lily?s eyes being ?very important?. It?s so true what Daniel Radcliffe said in that article:

"We can sit here and talk about it but Jo is coming to come up with something far more interesting or exciting than anything we can predict and imagine"

BandofMuggles · 29/06/2007 11:23

I know, I can't wait to sit and discuss it once we've read it all.

rosmerta · 29/06/2007 11:25

I'm starting GoF today!

Am I the only one who feels a bit jealous that she wrote this & not me?

flatmouse · 29/06/2007 11:33

Think i need to re-read OOTP again. So i'm ready for film and book!

Didn't realise that about Charlotte Coleman - my thought of her for Tonks was for her 4-weddings age, i forget she would obv have aged since then (if it weren't for her death )

PhoenixSongbird · 29/06/2007 11:36

No Rosmerta, you?re not the only one. I marvel at anyone with such an imagination, and then to be able to convey it in such a way that children and adults alike are utterly enthralled ? sheer genius. The funny thing is, if she writes a book for adults when HP is all over, there?ll be lots of ?oh, now we?ll see what she?s made of? kind of stuff. But I think it?s probably much harder to write well for children than adults.

PhoenixSongbird · 29/06/2007 11:37

She'd have been 40 next year

BandofMuggles · 29/06/2007 11:37

God no. I would love to be able to write like her. She is so easy to read, adn so very inventive with her characters, and storylines
