I like PhoenixSongbird too

I have never seen LOTR but DH gave them to me for birthday last year and havent got around to watching them yet!

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 27/06/2007 16:33

MrsWeasley, your afternoon coffee is ready.

BandofMuggles · 27/06/2007 17:16

LOTR are the best films IN THE WORLD.
I love the bit when Eomer thinks Eowynn(sp) is dead on the Fields of Pelennor and he screams and drops to his knees and cradles her in his arms. It gives me chills. Apparently it was not scripted in any particular way he just chose to do that and all the others were just like:WOW.

LOVE ARAGORN tho or would like to

BandofMuggles · 27/06/2007 17:28

They are the only films I've seen after readign the books and been not only NOT disappointed, but so impressed I think they are impeccabley made, and I can't think of one character I would've cast differently.

rosmerta · 27/06/2007 17:51

another vote for Pheonixsongbird here

Also loved the LOTR films, we saw all of them at the cinema! Gollum was great. Hands off Aragon tho, he's mine

rosmerta · 27/06/2007 18:30

oh,oh,oh, just seen the ad on tv for the film, looks fab!

TransfiguratingLily · 27/06/2007 18:48

I quite fancy sirius.

Phoenixsongbird is lovely. And how about Becklefawkespeckle?

Hi Dew just realised that my sisters hen night is on Harry-potter-book-eve so was trying to persuade sister to have a Harry Potter themed hen night and go crash a bookshop party at midnight

lilibetpotter · 27/06/2007 20:30

I am shocked!!

I started reading LOTR when I was in my teens (over 30 years ago sob!) and I hated the first film. Made my friends arm black and blue with constant nudging saying "that's not right" and 'They don't do that".

I hated that they made Merry and Pippin clowns and that crap scene with Boromir at the end of the film made me want to throw something at the screen. Have never been able to watch it since.

I did watch the other two and admit that they got some stuff right, but I had been waiting for these films for most of my life and I was so disappointed in what was done with my beloved books.

rosmerta · 27/06/2007 21:56

bbc OotP article

MrsWeasley · 27/06/2007 22:18

Thank you Annie house Elf. How are you?

Oh the BBC have used "that" photo.
I was happily reading the article then scrolled down and am now

MrsWho · 27/06/2007 22:23

They should do that with HP , make extended ones then they would make a lot of fans happier

skay · 27/06/2007 22:31

Does anyone know why some pictures talk back, and others don't?
(Sirius Black's mum,talk but Harry's parents don't.)

MrsWho · 27/06/2007 22:35

I thougt it was painting that spoke and photos didn't?

dewmeadow · 27/06/2007 22:36

Isnt Sirius' Mum a portrait and the other pictures photos?

dewmeadow · 27/06/2007 22:36

Sorry cross posts!

BandofMuggles · 28/06/2007 08:00

Do they use magic paint then

Lillibet I am amazed. LOTR films were fantastic. Admit they missed out and changed some things, but not that many. I loved the Boromir scene at the end, he died like a hero. And that is how it happened in the book. He died defending Merry and Pip, who were kind of clownish in the book, but you also see the serious side of them in the films.
The second and third ones were utterly brilliant.
We may have to agree to disagree on this one or it might take over the whole thread

LOVE PHOENIXSONGBIRD btw

lilibetpotter · 28/06/2007 08:22

BoM, just a little quick comment but didn't he say something like "my Lord, my Captain, my King"

Sorry but bleurgh!!!

But he is rather gorgeous!!

casbie · 28/06/2007 08:32

ooh, the book is coming out soon isn't it?!

can't wait!

BandofMuggles · 28/06/2007 08:37

Didn't he say something of the sort in the book. He would've followed him anywhere, my King. Hmmmm, will have to look it up.
I would be hard pressed to choose between them, but I think Aragorn might win

rosmerta · 28/06/2007 08:48

22 days, 15 hours, 11 minutes, 40 secs to go! -10 days for the film!

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 28/06/2007 09:38

Just read the Weasley's departure from Hogwarts. Think it's one of my fave scenes in the books so I hope it's as good in the films.
Must admit did not like Sean Bean as Boromir - he was too Sean Bean. Liked Faramir though!

rosmerta · 28/06/2007 09:47

I reread POA, one of my fave chapters in there is the final quidditch match when Gryffindor win the cup! Just so well written.

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 28/06/2007 09:51

In the back of my POA there's a letter from a teacher about her kids reaction when Harry appears with the snitch in his hand. They were whooping, cheering and punching the air apparently, which is just brilliant.
I want some of the Weasley's fireworks please.

MrsWeasley · 28/06/2007 11:07

Its Dobby's Birthday today.

Annie house elf: you can have today off to help him celebrate if you like

rosmerta · 28/06/2007 12:23
