I'm after book recommendations for a teen who is interested in current affairs and politics please.

I was wondering about this one as a less serious read, has anybody read it please?

No but you might try Naomi Klein, she's very readable, covers a wide range of areas and I know a lot of more engaged teens who've enjoyed reading her work.

I haven't read the book you linked to, but the author is definitely on the right (and a Daily Mail columnist) - so I dont' know if that's likely to appeal to your teen.

I'm assuming your dc is an older teen with the recommendations below (maybe 15 plus? )

23 Things They Don't Tell You About Capitalism is a very good read. (Worth saying the author is south Korean and not anticapitalist - just trying to make people think a bit more.)

Prisoners of Geography is a really excellent book, and I'd definitely recommend.

He's read (and enjoyed) Prisoners of Geography, I'll have a look at the South Korean book - thanks.

As for the right wing one, he's always up to discuss a different perspective - he argues with Panorama at times when they don't agree -) He's left wing himself not right wing so it'd give him food for thought.

TBH I'd be more inclined to suggest something a bit more serious IYKWIM for a different perspective. I suspect the Quentin Letts book will be amusing if you agree with him, but unlikely to contain serious reasoned argument (and I do definitely agree with reading from both sides). Now trying to think of some good examples... (I tend to read more economics than current affairs).

I want this and this for Christmas, but can't comment on them yet as haven't read them!

I've decided to pass on the Letts book.

Dp who loves politics wants WTF by Robert Peston, who is a guardian journalist/commentator. I might read it too, but prefer escapism in these frightening brexit-y days of ours.

I haven't read this book by Yanis Varoufakis, but i have read others of his, which are very readable.

He wrote this one for his teenage daughter, so it should be approachable.

As I agree with PPs about how important it is to read both sides, you might consider the Jordan Peterson book '12 Rules for Life'.
