Have we all seen the latest GRK book (great books for early readers, say 6+) Cod?

DS2 (just 8) has very particular taste wrt fiction books, and rarely reads 'stories' at all; but he loves Grk.

The latest one is Grk: Operation Tortoise and I have just wrestled it from ds2's grasp as he's supposed to be getting an early night.

It's very exciting apparently!

Would this suit girls as well ? my dd is 5 1/2 (but reading age of 9) so looking for some good "stories" she could read herself - looks quite boyish though?

Looks great. Wish some of the year 4 boys at our school would get into them. I listen to readers every week and I am bored, bored, bored with Horrid Henry.

Cleaninglady - I think it would be fine for that age. Tbh I only read the first chapter of the first one to my ds2 - it's hysterical btw, I nearly wet myself laughing.

After that ds2 was hooked and I didn't get a look in.

At that age both my boys were very fluent readers, but ds1 would read just about anything and was happy to tackle very big books. Ds2 was far more picky: and remains so.
