Elly Griffiths/Dr Ruth Galloway series

Was feeling a bit bereft because I had come to the end of the NIcci French/Frieda series but luckily a friend lent me the first two Ruth Galloway books and now I have a whole series of 10 to read. I have had a little splurge on eBay and three arrived this morning, though annoyingly not the next in the series so I will have to wait a few more days yet.

Anyone else read them, enjoyed them, hated them.....

I like this series, and I must get round to reading the next one (The Chalk Pit, I think). The relationship between Ruth and Nelson is interesting and well written (would no doubt result in a LOT of mumsnet threads in real life) and as the series goes on you learn more about the supporting characters- Cathbad is a particular favourite for me.

She’s also written a series set in the 1950s about a policeman and a stage magician who were former secret operatives in WW2, and now solve crimes in post-war Brighton.

The Works are selling some of her books at £2 each or 6 for £10 Wink

I love these, and the relationships are certainly interesting - I wonder if there is a backstory there

Thanks for your replies, I like the relationship developments as well, I am curious to see how things develop. I also like the way Griffiths writes, great sense of place.
