help me find a book

Bit of a long shot here but wondered if anyone can help.

I'm after a book on identifying rocks and minerals in the UK, specifically types of pebbles found on UK beaches.
There was a book review in the Sunday Times a few weeks ago. I think the book was an old one (possibly from 50 years ago) that had been reprinted. It sounded like the sort of thing I'm after. But I can't remember the title or author! Can anyone help me please?

I've been reading the Amazon reviews and several say it's disappointing and at least one says they can't see why the ST gave it a good review.

Methinks a trip to Waterstone's is called for (not that I need an excuse)
