I'm on chapter 3 and struggling to get into it. Anyone read it?

YES! Keep going!

Hippychickster · 08/08/2018 21:53

Yes! Although it's a long time since I read it.

Have you tried Half of a Yellow Sun by the same author? I absolutely loved that (even more).

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 08/08/2018 21:54

Yes, I loved it. Also get We Should All Be Feminists, it’s very short.

CramptonHodnet · 08/08/2018 22:34

You could switch to the audio version - I listened to it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent narrator.

StripySocksAndDocs · 08/08/2018 22:39

I feel I should say yes, as I've no idea how anyone could struggle with it. (As I couldn't put it down. I loved it).

I presume you're struggling due to not enjoying it. If you don't like a book why make yourself read it? there way too many books you'll enjoy out there.

AliasGrape · 08/08/2018 22:43

I loved it but I listened on audible, agree the narrator was excellent.

SirHubzALot · 08/08/2018 23:01

I really liked it!

Regressionconfession · 08/08/2018 23:09

Another yes!!! I thought it was brilliant.

SatsukiKusakabe · 09/08/2018 07:35

I just set it aside after a couple of chapters but think I’ll go back to it as I was enjoying it somewhat but just couldn’t get into it at the moment. Some books will never interest you and some you have to be in the right mood for - you usually know deep down! I try and give a book 100 pages though before deciding.

MyNameIsNotSteven · 09/08/2018 09:41

Yes that's it Satsuki. Good thought about Audible - I do like reading and listening in combination.

I'm not making myself hence the request for recommendations before I make my mind up.

One of my favourite ever books - I loved it and learned so much. I would persevere for a few chapters at least

TodoDoingDone · 09/08/2018 14:46

Yes, worth persevering. I learnt lots though I must admit to skimming some of the long blog posts. I

It's in the audible 2 4 1 sale if that's helpful. I just purchased it based upon recommendations from here before.

badteacher · 10/08/2018 07:53

I loved it personally , but I enjoyed it from the start. Personally I think if you're three chapters in and not enjoying it , it's probably not your thing - the pace doesn't change.

MyNameIsNotSteven · 15/08/2018 19:59

Finished and enjoyed, thanks for the encouragement.

@MyNameIsNotSteven I started this book in June and just couldn't get into it! I might give it another go ...!

almondfinger · 15/08/2018 21:19

Well done. I loved it. Had been wanting to read it for years. It was a fantastic insight and not what I thought it was going to be at all.
