Not sure if I am in the right place but worth a shot!
I am desperate for a new book having just finished "The Upstairs Room".
I enjoyed this book but wasn't overly thrilled with the ending!
My favourite kinds of books are thrillers, murder mysteries and the like. My favourite author is Mo Hayder but I have read all of her books! Heres a list of the books I have enjoyed recently and would love some recommendations from you guys if its okay! :)
Thank you x

You might like The Dry by Jane Harper.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 12/07/2018 05:45

Briony Williams The Walker might suit you. It's dark and very creepy crime.

Stuart McBride's crime novels are good, and often macabre. Mind you, Mo Hayder is the only writer who ever made me question my liking for crime writing, I find her disturbing.

If you like a good serial killer story, Jan Burke's Bones is genuinely scary.

Tami Hoag also does a good line in darkish mysteries - Ashes to Ashes is good. I like Dark Horse because it has horses in it. :-)

You might like Mark Edwards... 'The Retreat' and 'Follow You Home' are both pretty gripping. Also 'I Am Watching You' by Teresa Driscoll was good!

@DancelikeEmmaGoldman Mo Hayder's books are very very disturbing, but I enjoyed them so much! I worry sometimes about what that says about me! Hmm

Thank you so much for these recommendations! Looking forward to going on a spending spree now! I have hundreds of books and they're all hiding in my wardrobe and I don't have the heart to throw any of them away! I really should invest in a Kindle or something but there's something I just love about having a book in my hands Grin

I think you might like Behind Closed Doors

Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell is v dark and disturbing - used to be seen as a chick lit author but she seems to be branching out into more psychological thrillers.

I'm reading The seven deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle at the moment - it's really good. Basically murder mystery happened meets ground hog day meets body swap. Dh read it and recommended it, and as soon as he finished it on audiobook he went back to the start to listen again. It's really interesting so far (I've got about 1/4 left to go I think)

Another recommendation would be the Harry Bosch series by Michael Connolly, and the offshoot books that crop up along the way. Bosch is an LAPD homicide detective and the books are brilliant. First couple are enjoyable but not amazing but after that they get so good
