Books that have created most discussion / been enjoyed most at your book club?

I and a few friends are going to read the same books and discuss - so I guess a kind of book club. We've agreed they shouldn't be too long. Would welcome a list of books which where generally enjoyed by your book club and also those which generated the most discussion. Thank you

The one book which generated most discussion in the last year was Life After Life by Kate Atkinson.

I'm in a book club, this year we have enjoyed Little Fires Everywhere, The Poison Tree and The Help

Sometimes though, the books that generate discussion aren't necessarily the ones everyone enjoyed.
We've just read The Looking Glass House by Vanessa Tait. Several people really hated it, most didn't mind it, yet the discussion went on for ages.

A couple of years ago we read The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fford. Everybody really enjoyed it but couldn't think of much to say, especially as we were all in agreement so no-one had to argue their point, and the chat fizzled out really quickly.

Sometimes, having a book that people haven't all enjoyed works brilliantly. Someone will say "I loved this character." And someone else will say "Really? why? I hated him. He reminded me of...." And someone else will answer "I didn't see it like that. I thought he was more like ...."

Elizabeth is missing was another one everyone enjoyed and we got loads of discussion out of it.

Lincoln In The Bardo - never have we been so divided over a book! Some loved it, some hated it, and some never got beyond the first chapter!

My lot are very bad book clubbers (myself included). We fill our faces, chat about holidays, events cominig up and just before we leave, remember the book. We never ever read the same book at the same time! Works for us though!!!
