Trying to find a story I read as a child so at least 30+ years ago. I thought it was from the "storyteller" magazines but I have found a list of them and nothing jumps out. Ok, what I can remember is this... Set in cold, snowy mountain environment, someone, possibly an old man gets lost in the dark/snowstorm?/mountains. Person is saved by following the marks left in the snow by a nail/tac that was in the sole of his shoe, they left a glowing mark. Nail/tac left by elf type character?
