Game of Kings £1.99 on kindle

To anyone else who's heard multiple recommendations for the Lymond books by Dorothy Dunnett on here - you may be interested to know that the first in the series in currently £1.99 on kindle. I've just downloaded it in preparation for my holiday reading as I'm intrigued by the devotion.

I’m really enjoying the writing but I’m a bit at sea with the plot...
I think that might be me though.

It's a brilliant series, but it is a hard read, you have to pay attention. I also think she's quite an allusive writer - she doesn't feel the need to explain everything, so you have to join the dots yourself. Last time I read it with Google at my elbow, so I could check the bits I didn't understand.

The scene in, I think, the second-last book with Lymond and Phillipa in a boat, is the most romantic scene of anything I've read, even though one of them is asleep (not in a creepy way, truly).

Finished it, loved it, will definitely read it again as well.
All comes together so cleverly. Really satisfying.
